*All the strange things that have come... sparks created from incomplete slivers, more free-sparks, injured sparks that refuse to be comforted... friends that try her patience, assumptions that have been made... Why now, why all at once, like this? Auspex confesses that she is tired, that she can only invest herself emotionally in so many people, before she begins losing herself. Primus is all that she has, to sustain her in this... and she could use some of that, right about now...*

*Auspex's voice is mirthful* He's not telling us, I suppose.

"No." He shakes his head, his mouth twitching.

Then he pauses, his feelings going from query and bemusement to hopeful affection as he looks up again.

"Auspex, will you be my sister?"

Spur of the moment idea.

*Auspex frowns in puzzlement, tilting her head slightly* We both serve Primus as our primary function, and I tend to think of my fellow servants as brothers and sisters... as Primus would have me do. But... you seem to be speaking of something slightly different? I'm... not sure exactly what you mean.

Teletraan is surprised. "Ah... in my reality, at least siblings are those who share spark coding, either because of their construction or because of a light bond forged sometime later in life. It doesn't affect the mechs involved, for the most part. Though when one of the siblings goes offline too deeply the other tends to feel it."

His feelings shift to slight sadness as he muses once more over the slight empty spot where Spike would be if the youngling were alive.

Forming a sibling bond? *She looks startled, thoughtful, querying Primus for more information* I've only heard of true siblings as being somehow linked from creation, buildmates... otherwise, bonds are rather more intimate.

*she tries to understand what exactly he's asking of her, in this case* I'm sure it's possible to form lesser bonds, but it isn't something I've heard of, in the context of my own culture. Do your people commonly form such bonds? *She's not alarmed, really, but she is cautious. New practices involving the spark must be examined carefully, even if firmly established in other realities*

*She picks up on his melancholy* You miss your brother.

"Yes, I do." He accepts the feeling of comfort that Primus offers, then looks up. "It was more common in the past, when many would even grow into the bond over time. Modern mechs... see what they could lose instead of what they could gain."

*She answers slowly, pondering this* I suppose, if you were in constant close proximity with a person, over many vorns, the sparks would have time to find each others' energy, the tiny amount that slips through the shell... *her optics widen* Though if that is the case, many more share tentative bonds than they realize.

*Auspex seems a bit boggled by this, but it also makes a good deal of sense*

He nods. "Haven't you ever wondered at the near telepathy of those who've worked together as a team for some time? Some of it is familiarity, but some of it is due to those lesser bonds. Ratchet and Ironhide were an example of such a bond, and theirs had nearly reached the strength of a build bond by the time they died."

She 'hmm's quietly* This does sound very possible. I suppose bonds are examined in more detail in some universes, than others... I've not heard talk of natural bonds forming on their own, but I certainly can imagine it happening. This is new, and very interesting...

How does one actively form a sibling bond, then?
