More News of Teletraan; Thrust Worries

*Auspex is attempting to study an obscure text. She is somewhat distracted, still reeling a bit about the recent events, the new friend she lost so soon, and what an enigma he was... as well as the experience of having her innate abilities boosted by a Cybertronian with Mini-Con power-augmenting energy, without the need of the specific port that no one in her universe possesses... and a new dent in the wall that needs repair, introduced by a very large helicopter Cybertronian from a very alien universe. It's... been strange lately, even for her.*

*lifts his hands helplessly* Then what am I to do? You expose yourself to these lies and to this danger and you won't even carry a weapon to defend yourself with? Auspex, I need you. I won't allow you to hurt yourself.

*Her optics flicker, and she sighs at him. She was afraid he would say something to that effect. He is, consciously or not, trying to influence her emotions, and he does it too well. She shakes her head slowly* Thrust... I am only a servant of Primus. There is very little I can do for you that Primus can't, directly, if you trust him. I do not worry about what will happen to me, because I am in the hands of my god, and I trust him to keep me safe and alive, to serve him.

Also remember, that it is not my calling to seek out those of Unicron; it is my calling to counsel and heal my own people. If they are attacked by Chaos, I wish to protect them, yes, but there are others who are called to take the offensive against such beings. I am one that goes behind, and mends the destruction. I will happily keep myself far away from anyone Chaotic, as long as they leave my people alone.

*relieved* Good. Good. As long as you're taking care not to rush into these things and letting others fight where you cannot, I can gain some measure of peace.

That was never my intent, no. I am spiritually well-defended against those who serve Chaos, but confronting them is not my goal. As long as they don't actively attack me or my lord's children, I will leave them be.

But, I cannot afford to be overly suspicious of Primus' children, when I am called to serve them; that would hinder my purpose. Can you trust me, in that? Or at least voice your concern about someone's intentions to me, rather than drive them away?

*Thrust halfway shrugs at this* They are already dead and gone, what need do they have of you? And if they can speak lies without your detection, don't they show signs of Chaos themselves?

*she blinks at him, puzzled* I can read the dead as well as anyone else. I doubt I'd be able to read you, otherwise.

I know you can read the dead. What I mean is, you read them and found no falsehood where falsehood is clearly there. Isn't this suspicious? *attempts to masterfully change the subject*

*Auspex sighs, bringing a weary hand to her face* Thrust, have you been listening? It is not a falsehood. You've never met the individual they were talking about, only an alternate. Granted, neither have I, but Primus did not warn me against lies, and he would have, otherwise. I know the individual is capable of those qualities, as I've met an alternate who displays them.

Why will you not trust my judgement, and what Primus tells me? I don't mean blindly; a second opinion is welcome, and I will heed it-- it is true, my sources are not always objective, themselves, and they may not always see things correctly. But to flatly refuse the possible truth of what they say, as you are doing, is not necessarily a wise thing.

They believe what they told me, and while they may be biased, they are not liars... and I don't understand why you will not believe that.

Ah, so they believe that they speak truth. *Thrust appears thoughtful* In that case they are merely deluded, not liars. They are still harmful, but not direct dangers.

*There is a long silence. Auspex has turned to Primus for the moment, letting go of the frustration, the needling irritation, and even a bit of horror, that yes, he does indeed believe what he's saying, despite anything she may say to counter it. It hurts - why can't she get through to him?*

*her voice is rather quiet* That is... not precisely what I meant. If that is what you must think, to avoid accusing them of deceit, then very well. But I can sense the truth: they led a peaceable existence with the Decepticons during that time, as they told me; also the closeness between them and the others of their universe, in the Allspark - including the Decepticons. If you choose to dismiss my informed belief as naivete, there is very little I can offer to counter that. I admit that it disappoints me, however.

Peace, yes, some Decepticons have reached a truce with the Autobots. That is hardly the point. But to convince you of the innocence of Starscream is a most strange occurance, wouldn't you say? Perhaps the truce is not built on truth. *voice is kind but wheedling*

*Auspex glances at him sidelong, moving her hand over to rest her helm against it* Innocence? No one was talking about innocence. Starscream is hardly that, except in perhaps some very far-flung dimension. They had only remarked that their Starscream shared the same concern that they and I feel, for a spark that they cannot find. I only mentioned that I had seen such concern from another Starscream that I know. You are extrapolating too much from a few simple statements.

I'm not sure why it seems so impossible to you, but everyone has such emotions about someone, and petty grievances no longer seem as important as they once were, when a spark is one with all other sparks. It is not a change of personality, but of perspective.

The innocence, the love, the compassion for others...those do not exist in a Starscream of their universe. He is as incapable of them as Megatron himself.

*She sighs* One does not have to be innocent, or generally compassionate, to be concerned for someone. I could say the same thing of you.

*Thrust takes a moment to fume* Do not compare me to him. His arrogance is without bounds, I know where to put my feet.

*Auspex raises a brow in bemusement* What about him offends you so? *she would point out his own arrogance, but it would probably not be constructive at this point*

*hmph!* He doesn't offend me. I simply object to anyone slandering his bad name.

*she persists* Why is this objectionable?

Because it is false. And I of all people should know the pain of falsehoods.

Your dislike for Starscream has no bearing on your idea that this is false? *her expression is inscrutable* Despite what I have seen for myself?

*Softly* Does this discourage you from telling them?

I tell them only when necessary. *dignified look*

*Auspex is in theoretical question mode* And you choose which alleged truths to believe, based on what standard? Do you not sometimes distort truth to persuade others?

Based on if the profit gained from them goes towards the greater good of me and mine. These ones did not seem to have any reason for their lies.

*Auspex nods* And they do not lie, and I do not lie. You question if I have been deceived, yet you've given me no real argument as to why I should not believe in Starscream's potential positive qualities, especially given that I have witnessed them first-hand.

You cite the fact that he is not innocent, or altruistic, or trustworthy, and yet you realize that you are not known for those qualities, either; still, I trust you, in as much as I can. Why, then, do you object, when I trust others by those standards, except that you are distorting truth to serve your needs, or choosing which truths to believe?

*Thrust sighs for a moment, trying to get both his thoughts and his emotions in order. This is frustrating. He sets his hand over his mask, where his noise might be*

Auspex, I hardly mean this to be offensive, but I trust you because I need you. If I did not need you, if I was a less spiritual mech with no regard for your wise counsel, our relationship would be a bit more dangerous.
